  • Does my iPad support a GPS with or without the Maps App?
Only the Wifi+3G model has an actual Assisted GPS capability. The Wifi only model can calibrate it's position from the Wifi towers as it does not have the GPS hardware. Many 3rd party apps area available through the App Store to give you full fledged GPS experience with turn by turn directions.

Maps takes full advantage of the GPS hardware, Wifi hardware and the larger screen. Want to find the best route, Maps can help. Directions are no problem with Maps as it will give you directions and the route there.
