Mac OS X Utilities

These utilities will help you monitor and change your Macintosh.

A look at the Utilities
Mac OS X ships with many utilities. Here is a brief rundown of what they can do for you.

Apple System Profiler - Check to view many properties of your Macintosh; CPU speed, RAM interleave, hard drive specifications, etc.
Applet Launcher - Load Java applets.
ColorSync Utility - Verify that ColorSync is loaded correctly.
Console - View system messages.
CPU Monitor - See how busy your Mac is.
DigitalColor Meter - Change how color looks on your Mac.
Directory Setup - Change various settings.
Disk Copy - Create disk images for archival use or duplicate disks.
Disk Utility - Check to see how your hard drive is feeling (with repair) or partition a new drive.
Display Calibrator - Created a custom ColorSync profile for your system.
Grab - Screen capture utility. (This is how the screen images were captured)
Installer - You can use this to aid in installing applications, or even reload Mac OS X.
Key Caps - See all the hidden key symbols.
Keychain Access - Where Mac OS X keeps all of your passwords.
NetInfo Manager - See properties of your system. I am not sure what you can use this for.
Network Utility - Test your network connection.
Print Center - Setup your printer here.
ProcessViewer - See everything that is running on your Macintosh. Use this to get your Process ID for an application that it not responding. Then open a terminal session and "Kill 274" where 274 is the Process ID.
SetupAssistant - Helps you setup your Macintosh.
Stuffit Expander - Open *.tar, *.hqx, *.bin or *.sit compressed files.
Terminal - The command line interface to Mac OS X.
